Rights first

No book is touched until its rights holder says yes.

  1. 01

    Written permission for every asset

Title and author name in marketing, cover, excerpts, chapter summaries, author photo, voice and music each need a yes, in writing, from whoever holds that right.

  2. 02

    The book is never rewritten

Dog Ear never rewrites book text or alters cover art. Story maps, visuals and trailers are new work made from summaries the rights holder approves.

  3. 03

    Your manuscript stays with you

When you list a book, the file is read inside your browser to find the chapters. It is never uploaded or stored. Only the summaries and scenes you approve are saved.

  4. 04

    No implied partnerships

Dog Ear never names or suggests that an author, publisher or bookshop works with it until there is a signed agreement.

  5. 05

    No campaign without signed rights

Dog Ear does not sell or start a launch campaign before the rights are signed.

  6. 06

    Classics are out of copyright

Public-domain books are marked as classics, with the reason they are free to use and a link to the source.
